International Festival

The FLI participated in the Int'l Festival this year.  We got major publicity through our organization booth.  We did face-painting and arm-paintings of people's names in different languages.  We also held cultural trivia games, which were rewarded with some type of ethnic candy and snacks.  Special thanks to David Wei (Treasurer) and Karl Mertens (Vice President) who manned the booth most of the day.

Also, special thanks to Alison Cameron (President), Syed Ali Tahir (Urdu Teacher & Entertainment Coordinator), Bimala Koju (Nepali Teacher), and Gabriela Fraga (IBO Liason) who invested their time to prepare a few culturally-charged song and dance performances for the stage at the festival.

Last Friday, six MSU students attended the FLI’s first Arabic class! It is impressive to observe that some students are motivated to stay on campus a bit longer in order to avail themselves of the opportunity to learn a different language not currently offered by the University. The class was taught by FLI Arabic Instructor, Mr. Lero Odola, a native of Sudan with the assistance of FLI Director & Curriculum Development Advisor, Elouen Soviac. The FLI Arabic class will meet again next Friday, September 22, 2006, at 5:15 PM in Armstrong Hall, room number TBA.

Also, don't forget to check out the class schedule by clicking on the "Languages" tab at the top, and clicking on the "Class Schedule" link!
